Electrical Panel Upgrades — Northern Virginia, DC & Maryland

Electrical Panel Upgrades

More Capacity, Safer Wiring, One Visit

If your panel can’t keep up with modern loads — EV chargers, heat pumps, kitchen renovations — Ahmad sizes the upgrade, pulls the permit, and does the work. Written estimate before anything starts.

EV Electric Services — electrical panel upgrade across Northern Virginia

What a panel upgrade involves

A panel upgrade replaces your home’s main electrical panel — the breaker box — with a higher-capacity unit. The most common upgrade is from 100 amps to 200 amps, which is now the minimum standard for modern homes. Some homes with heavy loads (EV chargers, heat pumps, hot tubs, workshop circuits) need 300- or 400-amp service.

The job typically takes one full day. Ahmad coordinates with the utility company for a temporary disconnect, installs the new panel with correctly sized breakers for every circuit, re-lands all existing wiring, and brings the grounding and bonding up to current code. The county inspector visits afterward — we meet them, walk through the work, and get the sign-off.

Panel upgrades aren’t optional when they’re needed. A panel that’s tripping under normal load, a panel with Federal Pacific or Zinsco breakers (known fire risks), or a panel that physically can’t accept a new 40-amp or 50-amp breaker for an EV charger — those are the calls that lead here. Ahmad does the on-site assessment, explains what’s needed and what’s not, and gives you a written estimate with no add-on fees on the work day.

About Ahmad Shaban, Master Electrician

Ahmad Shaban, Master Electrician at EV Electric Services

Ahmad holds a Master Electrician license issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia — the highest electrician credential the state issues. He earned it after several years of journeyman work and a passed state exam. EV Electric Services is fully insured, and Ahmad runs a maintenance team so scheduling doesn’t bottleneck on one person.

Ahmad is on the job site for most residential calls. He does the assessment, explains what he finds, and handles the work himself. You’re not getting a subcontractor you’ve never met — you’re getting the Master Electrician whose name is on the license. Our shop is at 9488 Fairfax Blvd, physically inside the City of Fairfax.
