Smoke Alarm Installation
Hardwired Protection, Every Room
Hardwired smoke and CO detectors with battery backup — installed to current Virginia code, interconnected so every alarm sounds when one triggers. Ahmad handles the wiring, mounting, and testing.
What smoke alarm installation covers
Hardwired smoke alarms are connected to your home’s electrical system with a battery backup. When one detector triggers, every interconnected alarm in the house sounds — you hear the alert no matter which floor you’re on. Virginia code requires hardwired, interconnected smoke alarms in specific locations: every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home including the basement.
Ahmad installs new hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, replaces aging units (the NFPA recommends replacement every 10 years), adds detectors to rooms that were never wired for them, and brings older homes up to current interconnection requirements. If your home has battery-only detectors and you want to upgrade to hardwired, that’s a wiring job — running new cable from the panel to each detector location and interconnecting them all on the same circuit.
The work is straightforward but the wiring matters. A smoke alarm that isn’t properly interconnected gives you a false sense of protection — it’ll sound in the room where the fire starts, but nowhere else. Ahmad tests every detector after installation: individual alarm, interconnection trigger, and battery backup.
